I want to buy a drone! But which one?
Buying a drone has many inherent risks, because before you know it, you're addicted to flying it ! The experience of flying an quadcopter is incomparable. For many people, a camera drone is the toy that they have been waiting for, something to enjoy at weekends and make videos with for fun. For other people however, a camera drone is the perfect tool for work- whether you make films for a living or carry out tasks such as land surveying, a drone can transform the way you work
From toy drone to drone professional
Drones can be used to film events, to take aerial photos of parties or sporting events, but they can also perform stunts and flips in the air. Initially drones existed mostly for military purposes, but now anybody can own one. Quadcopters and drones come in many different forms, with many functions and specific properties. If your main purpose is fun and enjoyment, then you will find cheap, simple toy drones in our range. But if you have a higher budget and you're looking for a sophisticated, professional drone- we have you covered there too.
Drones for novice users
The term drone is not actually very specific. A drone may be in the form of an aircraft, but also in the form of a helicopter instead. You will also have drones that move along the ground, commonly referred to as robots. The most accessible type, suitable for recreational and novice users, is the quadcopter. Quadcopters have four propellers and are therefore very stable and maneuverable in the air, and they are also pretty user friendly. At drone-expert, those looking to buy a drone in the UK are bound to find something to suit their needs!
The battery - how long it will last?
Quadcopters are equipped with one or several motors, powered by a battery. Depending on the battery, the length of time a drone can spend in the air varies. But what happens when the battery dies, and the fun is over until it charges again? Then there's an easy solution: buy a second battery. Amongst our drone accessories we sell extra batteries for many of our products, so the fun doesn't have to stop when the battery starts to die. In our store you can find drones with a battery life of 10 minutes, and some that can go for over 20, and different batteries do of course have different charge times, so it's all about finding that perfect drone to meet your requirements.
How do you control a drone?
Some drones get supplied remote controller. This is perfectly matched to the device and allows you to accurately control the drone. Other models however do not have a separate controller- these are designed to be controlled with a smartphone or tablet. Via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection puts your mobile device in control of the drone. A third possibility is a combination of both a controller as a smartphone or tablet. Here connect your mobile device to the controller in order to create a live stream. The images recorded by the camera of your drone will then be displayed in real time on your device.
I Want a camera drone
You can not avoid it, one of the most spectacular features of a drone has to be the camera. Not every drone has one, and not every camera is of the same quality. There are quadcopters with an integrated camera, but also devices where the camera is mounted separately. These products are equipped with a gimbal, a system that keeps the camera perfectly steady. In the details of every drone in our range we give information regarding whether the product has a camera, and if so what sort of quality you get for your money. This ranges from 640 × 480 to Ultra HD. Want to make some recordings for fun? Then a low resolution camera will be fine for your purposes. For more professional images you choose drone with HD camera.
Is a drone with GPS worthwhile?
Driving a drone at long distances can be a bit tricky at times. A drone with GPS can always determine its position, and yours, using satellites, so even if you can't see where your drone is, it will know where you are! The smartest drones are equipped with a feature that allows the device to automatically return to you. It really is that simple. Each drone has its own specific strengths and weaknesses. Decide what is important to yourself and choose your ideal drone.
