Drum Roll Please ...
Brace yourself because this is a big one. DJI has spared no expense in creating this new, even better version of the already great Phantom 3. The DJI Phantom 4 is by far the most exciting quadcopter ever created (so far) by this leading brand. The Phantom 4 has all the best bits of the Phantom 3, but with some additional and revolutionary features. Yeah, we hear you say, we know that we have said this before about other drones. But this time, DJI really have outdone themselves. If you weren't interested in drones before, this is going to change your mind. Trust us.
Smart and Sexy
The Phantom 4 is sexy. We don't often say about a quadcopter, but in this case it's justified. The beautiful curves, elegant lines and smooth body is eye-catching to say the least. Like its predecessors this drone is easy to fly, even if you've never flown a drone before. The device is so intelligent that it can factor in possible mistakes before they even happen. You can also use the DJI Go app to set everything up exactly as you want it. Using this app you can control the drone with your smartphone or tablet. The actual steering of the unit is done with the included controller (which is also a clever, advanced piece of techology).
As you would expect from DJI the Phantom 4 comes with a truly top notch camera. You can make sharp video recordings in 4K with a frame rate of 30 fps. Even slow-motion images can be recorded in full HD, with a frame rate of 120 fps. The new lens increases the sharpness of the images to a level where it is almost scary. The advanced gimbal ensures that the recordings are always stable, even during omplex maneuvers. Durng post-production, you have plenty of possibilities with a range of colour profiles available. Photos can be shot in professional quality: 12 megapixel Adobe DNG RAW.
A Drone With Eyes
The Phantom 4 not only shows you the environment its flying through, but it is intelligent enough to recognise the terrain for itself. Additional special sensors on the front and bottom of the device and a sophisticated computer system mean that any obstacle is easily circumvented. Whether it is a tree, a cow, a building or a mountain. The existing Vision Positioning System has been further refined by DJI, allowing the drone to accurately choose the correct height. The effective height while flying has been improved by 300% when compared to the indoor Phantom 3, this means you be be sure that the drone remains safe during flight,
TapFly is a new feature exclusive to the Phantom 4. It actually works in a very simple way: you tap twice on the screen of your smartphone or tablet and the drone will fly in exactly the direction you indicated. The new sensors for locating obstacles ensure that your drone will move safely to the desired location. This system is also used for the automatic return feature- with the push of a button you can instruct your drone to return, and it will choose a safe path for itself.
New: Active Track
Drones are perfect for photographing moving objects. With the Phantom 4 it is possible to follow a moving object, without having to do it manually. Active Track works just as easily as TapFly: you tap your screen on the object the drone should follow and press 'GO'. That's it! The revolutionary sensors also come in handy when using Active Track- you can be sure your drone isn't going to fly into something while tracking the identified object. If you're inexperienced you can set the drone to the special beginner mode and know that you're practicing in a safe way that isn't going to endanger the drone or its surroundings.
Generally the downside of drones is the limited flight time. Because the battery can't be too heavy, it is a huge challenge for manufacturers to design a battery that is both light and long-lasting. DJI has overcome this challenge with the Phantom 4. The new Intelligent Flight Battery ensures that you can fly undisturbed for 28 minutes. That is an increase of 25% compared to the Phantom 3. The aerodynamic design of the device and the advanced new propulsion systems both contribute to this increased battery life. The maximum range between the drone and the controller is 3.5 kilometers.
Different Modes: Choose Speed or Accuracy
The introduction of a special Sport Mode has made it possible for the Phantom 4 to achieve speeds of up to 72 km/h. In this mode, the drone responds quickly to the controller so you always fly safely despite the high speed. The integrated gimbal and the battery inserted in the middle of the device ensure that the centre of gravity is close to the heart of the drone. Together with the elevated position of the engine, this drone is quicker, more agile and more controllable. Other modes also allow you to focus on simply flying, smart navigation or filming.
Accurately Determine Position
The Phantom 4 is connected to GPS and GLONASS, thus enabling it to quickly and accurately determine its own position. Using automatically recorded flight data, you can find all the statistics for every flight. Also, by using the the DJI Go app, you can keep track of everything, make flight plans, share images and settings and customize the camera. The included remote controller can be adjusted to your own preference, from the sensitivity of the joysticks to the functions of the buttons. Long story short: for an unparalleled flight and movie experience you need look no further. This is the drone that you always wanted!
